Flying Fairy

Flying Fairy is a simple rubber-band powered propeller toy designed to achieve smooth vertical flight. After experimenting with propeller shapes and rubber tension, this model uses a clean, minimal propeller system that attaches easily to the fairy’s body. With the right setup, the fairy can launch impressively high.

Preparation

• Print the fairy and propeller components.
• Bend each propeller blade to about 45° as shown in the reference pictures.
• Thread the propeller hook through the fairy’s neck — first insertion may require pressure.
• Ensure the hook rotates freely once positioned.

Instructions

• Attach two rubber bands from the propeller hook to the fairy’s feet.
• Use one rubber band if using thicker bands.
• Wind the propeller several turns to build tension.
• Release the fairy upward for vertical lift.
• Apply a small drop of oil to the hook joint for smoother rotation.

Performance

• Fresh rubber bands provide the best height.
• Outdoor tests reached approximately 8 meters.
• Lightweight body ensures stable spinning and controlled ascent.
